Christmas Away From Home

In darkened bus,

In the winter’s gloom,

The lights go out,

Everything begins to falter, fracture.

But outside the window,

The buildings are burning,

Like a lit up Christmas tree.

Perhaps it’s just a memory,

Filtering down from my mind into my eyes,

But the world has been upholstered,

With red and green fabric.

My heart bleeds much emotion,

A heartfelt longing for my lost family.
